A Clinical Statistics on the Pediatric Patients with Anemia

Abstract
This clinical study was carried on 704 cases with anemia among the patients admitted to the Department of Pediatrics, Pusan National University Hospital, from Jan. 1978 to Dec. 1982.
The following results were obtained:
1. Anemia occurred most frequently in younger children under 2 years of age.
2. The ratio of male to female was approximately 3:2.
3. Patients with hemoglobin over 7.lgm% were 83.8% of the total.
4. The causes of anemia were infection, hematologic disease, renal disease, cardiovascular disease, hepatobiliary disease, and neoplasm in order of frequency. The frequency of causes of anemia with hemoglobin above 7. lgm% were infection, hematologic disease, cardiovascular disease, hepatobiliary disease and neoplasm in order of frequency: while below 7.Ogm o hematologic disease, infection, hepatobillary disease, neoplasm, cardiovascular disease, acute hemorrhage, renal disease and malnutrition in order of frequency.
